Recommendation for fuel transfer pump

by ChrisH » 23 Sep 2016, 22:59

Hi. Any recommendations for an easy to use fuel transfer pump. I have 3 20l fuel canisters which are ok to transfer with the fuel spouts to the boat but it's not easy and wondering if there is a fuel pump that would make life easier?

I was watching a demonstration of those at the boat show. Really effective and easy to use, a pretty good flow rate too.
I nearly brought one, glad I didn't as he was selling for £15 I think!! a much better deal at screwfix.
The advantage of those is you can start them off and then carry on with other things while it transfers the fuel..

I found a review for a similar device on another site. Which said it takes 10 mins for 20l. That seems pretty slow. ...
Found this https://www.fueltankshop.co.uk/syphon-p ... Aidt8P8HAQ

Which if true says 10l a min. That's quicker than I can transfer using a funnel. Anyone seen these?

To be honest I don't remember what the actual figures were but the guy was emptying a bucket into another and it seemed pretty quick to me, certainly not long enough for you to stand and lose interest or think it was slow.
The other you found also looks worth a try..

It all depends on the diameter of tube and how high you hold the fuel can above the bottom of the pipe. I use a cheap ebay one with 10 ltr cans and while I have never timed it I recon I can empty a 10 ltr in 2 mins. Just buy one from ebay (about £7) and try it you wont be disapointed
