Classic Ebay top 5 remarks

by betty boop » 01 Aug 2016, 12:41

This wekeend proved quite comical on Ebay with emails coming my way for the sale of Betty and a car radio. The car radio I know will attract idiots, the usual (foar sale at £100) I'll give you £50 to takeit off your hands mate.

Betty I thought would attract a better class of purchaser. HA I was so wrong, Ive had the 'I'll sell it for you for a commission', Ive had 'Mate, how much for the water toys/ropes/ SS prop and anchor' (which arent list or for sale). Ive had 'fancy swapping for a barn stored Jet Ski'

best one so far fromSaturda night.............'Want to buy your boat mate but Im a bit short this month and I can only raise £6k,' (£1500 short of the asking price). printable words escape me. :D :D

I'm not surprised. Selling Joka I had an offer of £12K against an asking price of £21K. Words fail sometimes.

I've just cleared out a couple of old mountain bikes on Gumtree. Free but buyer collects only.

Q1, How much for you to send them to Kent?
Q2 How old are they, I don't want them if the're not in tip top condition.
Q3. I'll take them if you pay me £50 to come and collect them

I gave them to a local charity in the end. They had collects 38 bikes on Saturday alone! They use a local disabled centre to restore them then send them on to Africa for free.

We had the offer of a motorbike in exchange plus a couple of " I will do you a favour and take it off your hands".

I was waiting for the statement 'what's your best price" so that I could add a grand onto the advertised price and say "that's the best price for me!," but no one asked :(

That's brilliant!!!

I have a car for sale on eBay at the moment and am getting exactly the same, I had one the other day, "well we buy any car said it was worth this much"
Yes, that's if they're buying it from you to then sell on with a huge profit, the woman just would not understand why I would not sell it to her for that price. Her words were " well they said that much so I just thought we could round down"
Er, no, stop wasting my time!
All very amusing though! Funny what people will try!!

I find the whole buying and selling thing quite horrible. Some people feel that it is quite acceptable to make what are in my view insulting low offers and then get annoyed when you either ignor them or tell them where to go. Buyers market is one thing but insulting offers are another

I forgot the best one.

Chap phoned about the double ringo. Having established that I still had it the conversation wenr something like.

Buyer: Great I'm really interested. What's a ringo do then?

I carefully explained.

Buyer: OK so what sort of motor do I need then?

Ummm, explained again about the need for a boat.

Buyer: Will you chuck the boat in with it mate?

After I picked myself off the floor I explained again, adding in the sort of cost for a boat.

Anyway, he wanted to see it so he came round. Really nice bloke but not over endowed in the brain area. We had a long chat over a beer and he went away happily knowing more that he did when he arrived. He didn't buy the ringo but did buy a pair of rusty axle stands that he spotted lurking in the garage :D (£1 for cash)

So sometimes they're not so much time wasters as just a bit lacking somewhere.

Colin you've made my day thanks,

The 4x4 on ebay hasnt attracted one look yet but having on the road in 'pikeyville' has seen some laughable insults. one after a 2 hour vieing seasion and garage inspection, I was asked for a £1200 pensioner discount that was 20 mins after he told me he was selling a field across the road for £265k next week.

The other tried to nick it last week, he had hold of the keys - jumped in without looking at it said he was going for a drive - when I refused he got all nastie and drove off in his £50 pile of junk swearing at me for wasting his time. - lucky escape may be ? def lesson leanrt. Definately going to remember Martins best offer price comment though .

I do wonder if the guy went off and bought a boat. He was really keen on getting out on the water. I think he thought he was trying to buy a small tender type thing.

The two guys who bought the kayak weren't much better. Not interested in life jackets or anything but were intending to go out off Calshot fishing. I did warn them about tides around there but just got a blank stare. Hopefully they're not somewhere off Portland by now
