Hi Ian, I will be out. Got a couple of friends joining us. Weather is looking pretty good.
Did you go out last year? I was privaledged to be invited out to watch on HMS St Albans last year, the scene around us was absolute boating carnage!! :D
It should be a good day.
What time are you planning on getting there?
I will keep an eye out for the sleek shape of the Hunton.. 8-)

Had a cracking day out today, weather was amazing, boat ran well, racing with the aid of radio commentary was brilliant. Will post some pictures tomorrow..
Anyone else out to watch? 8-)

I agree, think 90% of berths must have been empty in the Solent, a solid row of boats the whole way round the course. The pictures don't do it justice...

Made for a really good day, with the commentary on the radio, the racing was great to watch, great cheers every time BAR made a move!
And then a wizz to the beach for a quick swim, a very hot day!! Never seen the anchorage so busy..

So we're you allowed to anchor up all the way around the course. And if so was there enough room to be able to see the race. Any provlems with boats swinging into each other. Would have loved to be there. However away on hols right now.

Yes there were marshalls all a round directing where to anchor. We managed, as luck would have it, to slot right in at the front in front of some bigger yachts so we didn't impede their view.
The tide swung a few times and wind was moving boats all over the place, we were lucky and sat perfectly between the boats and stayed clear but some of the boats were having an absolute nightmare!! One large yacht in particular, kept swinging into everything around it, it seemed to be snaking about on its chain, and then had cheek to have stand up rows blaming literally everyone around them. Quite entertaining to watch but I would certainly of had more to say if they had tried to have a pop to me, very rude ignorant people!!
I think viewing would be severely restricted if you don't get there early as if you end up behind the bigger yachts you wouldn't get to see much.

Anyone remember the discussion on here a few weeks back about numbers of passengers on boats?
Well I saw this watching the racing on Saturday and think they may have been pushing the boundaries of being safe...
What's your thoughts?
