If I though selling now would produce nice weather I'd have a sandwich board over me as I type walking up and down the road. Not sure it will though.

The weekend threw a curved ball a bit. Firstly the Jeanneau range is the wrong layout we drove to Ipswich to see a battered 630 up for £14k and was a waste of time. But we did see a lovely Merry fisher 650, ticks a lot of boxes except the one were it says 'open cockpit. It would be very useful but not sure Im cabin boat age just yet.

Other than that a nice Bayliner 192 has come up in Chatham, silly offer considered as the sell is desperate/very eager to get rid so he can upgrade (£12k or less quoted). A 2009 boat with a nice layout 3.0l Merc engine. The problem is............. she's been in salt water all her life. My thinking is risers/Manifolds would need doing urgently so thats £6-700 down straight away. making it not such a bargain after all.

Ive got an appointment to see it tomorrow in London. sounds good but as with most things its about £3k over priced, he spent £3.5k on an OB rebuild last year and new 2 new axles on the trailer. surely I could buy a new 150 merc OB for £3.5k?

100 e/w mile drive to London last night to see the Karnic - nice boat but this example was an eBay pig. As I suspected from Ebay it was hiding no end of issues the current owner insisted were cosmetic and cured with a hose down, Rusty trailer brakes, seized or broken rollers & winch, 3 coats+ of very old anti foul that was peeling off down to the hull (but i guess easy to remove), a damp cuddy with a white but now dirty brown head lining, damp cushions and a broken hatch causing the ingress of water. General state of up keep dirty wet battery .

It did have a full set of receipts and a full paperwork trail from new, the OB had a £3.5k refurb last year although why the head needed to be removed was only answered with ' I thought it was a good idea' I was amazed at the the costs during the service too, £2 a M4 S/S screw and £30 a spark plug x 6 , £2000k labour charge. Im in the wrong business for sure.

No offers invited and a selling price of £17k - I don't think so The only thing I can say it that hose must be one of those magic hoses to cure that lot.

nearly got caught with a gum tree boat as well yesterday ' genuine reason for sale, owned by my dad from new' on a maxim cuddy 2100sc. Had a chat with the pushy son only to find out 2 hours later he had 8 adverts on gumtree for similar wreaks and 'barn find' classic motors in his warehouse. Dad must have been a collector of bayliner classics.

That ebay story is so opposite to my recent experience when I bought the Fletcher 17 GTO for my brother. The buyer and buying experience could not have been better
