Cheap Tender

by Bigplumbs » 18 Jun 2016, 17:20

Hello

I need to increase the size of my tender. I only use it to and from my swinging mooring. I have a 2.6 m slatted floor WavEco and it is nice and works well with my little Yamaha Malta 3 hp. I am wondering if to move up to the 3.0 m airmat waveco for £430. But................................

I was wondering if anyone has any experience of these

Aquaparx 3.3 m at £279 plus postage £32

What do you need to increase it for? More load capacity or more volume capacity? If it's more load capacity you need, then I have an Excel Volante SD260 for sale. I bought it off eBay, but decided it's just too big when deflated, so going to get rid and buy a smaller one. The SD260 is the same length as your Waveco, but has 42cm tubes, with a proper air deck with an inflatable keel too (and will take up to 8hp on the back), so it's heavy duty enough and it's even cat C rrated - so the same as The Cure, would you believe! I'd sell for £200 and then probably another £25-30 on TNT to ship it.

Just a thought, and I suspect it's more length overall that you're after, so this won't help, so no worries if not interested It'll be going on eBay this weekend if no interest.

Anna

Thanks for the offer. We actually need more space and length so we are after 3.0 m long as a minimum and slightly bigger tubes. Our little eco is ok for the moment and I think we will go to the Southampton boat show so we can see the size differences in the flesh as it were.

For you the 3D Ultralite tender would be very good in my opinion. Quite good for traitors that have turned Raggies :)

Haha. Yes, we looked at one in a chandlery the other day. They would be perfect, but very pricy! Frustratingly, there was a 2.3m on EBay being sold locally a few weeks ago, about the same time we bought the excel, as the excel would be better for a commuter tender next year when we plan to put her on a mooring. Regret this now, as the 3d was in as new condition and went for £250!

It seems the best solution will be a small tender for cruising with, and a bigger second one (possibly even a fibreglass/plastic one) to reach a mooring. We could tow the bigger one, but in a small sailing boat this will slow us down and be a pain when visiting marinas etc

Anna

I know the issues you are having being on a swinging mooring has its interesting points and indeed frustrations not least of which in my case are the seagulls shitting all over the boat.

Getting the right tender or indeed tenders is also interesting

Anna would you be interested in a swap?

I have a Excel sd200 that I feel is a bit small that I was thinking of selling its in good condition with air floor and inflatable keel. Let me know :)

Couldn't help myself just bought a Jago 3.2 from Amazon on the ipad while pissed on my balcony on holiday. Should have kept off the voddy

Here it is should be ok as a commuter tender to the swinging mooring. Might also be ok to have a bit of fun on. Inflatable keel and Ali deck. I got some rubber tyres wheels for the transon so can pull to the launch site from the car. Will also fit on my new trailer
