Sodding Weather

by BruceK » 24 Mar 2016, 10:46

Had a nice little 4 day cruise planned I did. Been looking forward to it since November I was. Am I gonna toast ol Neppy this bank holiday weekend? NO! I'm gonna piss in the water

Just checked Met Office, Friday bright and sunny, Sat, Sun some heavy rain and some sun. Knowing the Met Office though, by Friday those rain clouds may disappear. Lets hope eh? :D

The met office does tend to change quite regularly, often to the point where I tend not to believe anything it says... But, for the bank holiday weekend it's bound to be spot on!!!

Typical crap weather for a 4 day weekend!

The trouble with Easter is that it is a moveable feast (Thank-you church!)

Its particularly early this year, any other year and this weekend would have just been a wet weekend in March,

Roll on the plans to fix Easter in the calendar

We went out on friday just to finish running the props in and to see how she went up on the plane with the new ratios and props....bloody brilliant...much better than with the old drives and props.....job done we headed back...thought the stbd motor temp was very low....sure enough the stat had stuck open and right at the point where we needed it the motor cut out...twice....hey ho... we got her back on the mooring in the end...and stayed on board for the whole weekend....sunday night got pretty wild, and we lost a fender but no leaks and a dry engine bay so all good.......

We got out on Friday and went to Puffin Island. The rest of the weekend was on the river mooring but the new cover leaks like a sieve  . I'm told that the stitching has to wick and swell closed but still. I think a hefty application of bees wax is called for.

We've used Coleman's tent seam sealant to good effect in the past. We have one seal that gets stretched over a supporting bar that needs doing every year.

Probably need to have a look at it soon although we rarely use the camper cover.

I'm in the process of re-doing my camping cover and tonneau cover with fabsil. Heard it was good somewhere ( may have been on here) but it's the first time so can't say if it's any good or not? Hoping so!
