New Merc Drives

by Dave » 08 Feb 2016, 07:41

It twas obsolutely a cost thing, the transom shields / gimbals and drives for duos would have been miles too much money (for me anyway). For instance the cost of both new Alpha 1 Gen 2 drives together is about 2/3 of the cost of one Bravo 3.

I am really concerned about something in this thread.

Some of you seem to have watched Pretty Woman........................... Isn't that a chick flick :)

Come on, who are we trying to kid, the truth is we all sit and watch films like that occasionally just so that they will 'allow' us to spend really offensive amounts of money on our boats.. :D

Yeah me neither. I had a little brush with a shoal last year and came off badly. I mentioned I totted up my maintenance, running and repairs cost last season..... 24.4k  Half of that was on drives, a quarter on necessary repairs. Some engine drive combo's are frightening. My Cuddy 3.0GL and alpha 1 MR leg could have been replaced entirely for the cost of a single VP leg. Moral of the story, watch out for them shoals dammit!
