Why is it that all the calm weather happens when we are at work or in the middle on winter

It was lovely and bright all day today and I completely missed the opportunity to get the cover off the boat for a day of fresh air. Fingers are crossed for the same again tomorrow so I can.
Your right though, would have made for a nice day out in the solent today I'd imagine.
Maybe a trip out in the work rib will have to be on the cards for Friday morning..

Could we possibly create a UK business ethic where we work for businesses which allow boat owners to work flexible hours allowing us to go out in calm weather and then return to work or make up for it another day?

Calm it may have been, but fellas I was out today. Just got back and I can tell you it was boomin cold out there. Everything full of condensate and my feet and toes were cramping something awful in the cold. Ever tried to climb up a Stainless steel bar harbour wall ladder with cramped tootsies in deckshoes and cold hands? Take a break and sit down and you have a wet bum to boot. No, it was bloody miserable. Trade places ?

I used to work for a company like that Ian!

I would meet my colleague at 0800 on the pontoon then pop over to Cowes for a full English in the greasy spoon, then zip back and be in the office by 12 midday.

That was 2014 of course and I work for the same company but am so much busier it remains a distant but enjoyable memory....

Nick, yes I remember days like that about 10yrs ago though. Perhaps we should try to campaign to get them back, or live in Australia, where they can do it.

T-shirt and shorts? In this country? When, where, how? Yet to experience that even in mid summer. No I was in chest waders when on the mud. But I dont get on the boat with them on. And no sir. I am from warmer climes. I had more layers on than was decent including long johns. 10 minute undress just to take a leak! Didn't help though. As soon as I stopped working and waiting on the tide I got cold to the bones.
Deck shoes.... because I am so tired of trying to get black rubber sole skid marks off the non slip GRP. It's a menace.
