Capturing the Cure

Also, the windscreen leak was covered on YBW I think. It's hardly rocket science, but someone did post a brief how to, should you need any pointers.

If you want to treat yourself then a Fusion radio should be on your list

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but a quick question for Martin (or anyone else who knows). Do any of the fusion stereos fit into a standard car radio DIN format? it's just that the fletcher has a waterproof stereo flap thing. If it fits under this then great (although I know it's not required as they're waterproof) but if it doesn't, sod's law will say the cut our for the flappy thing will be too big for the fusion stereo.

I want to change ours to a fusion (probably the cheapest one that has bluetooth) as I'm fed up with the annual stereo replacement drill I currently go through! Filling in any gaps neatly will just be a PITA, so hopefully it'll fit seamlessly.

Anna

In their raw form they do not fit, they are smaller than a car radio

However Fusion do an adapter plate. It is the black item here, the standard "car" radio originally in our boat came with a decoration stainless finger plate which we had to retain as this had holes drilled in the bulkhead so you can see both the car adaptor plate and the stainless finger plate in the picture

Anna or Nick

Here is a very basic question. How do you open the front cuddy roof hatch. the latches easily slide to one side, Do I have to loosen the allen key on the friction hinge. My hatch was very tight and I did not want to force it.

Thanks

Never had ours stick. Assuming its the same as ours, It could be the adjustable stay has been tightened. Its a collet grip type thing so try twisti g the black bit. I'd imagine though that if it was tight the hatch would open a few mm, but feel like something was binding or bending to the point of breaking.

If it was closed tight and wouldn't budge though, I'm not sure. Could just be the rubber seal amalgamating to its sealing surface due to not being opened for a while?

The hinge o n ours was broken when we bought her (and still is). Its fine whe shut but comes off when opened, so it could also be the hinge has somehow gone wrong due to a design fault, and our previous owner had the same dilemma as you but just used brute force and ignorance. Unlikely... but possible. Annoyingly if his is the case, you can only access the hinge to service it if the hatch is open.

Hi Dennis,

Yes the hinge was stiff on ours - I loosened the hinge with an allen key I believe. I didn't want to put much stress on the perspex hatch or the hinge.

Bit of PTFE spray works wonders to keep it loose....

Dennis, if it's anything like Land Rover accessories which are stiff to open, maybe soak the area's which look obvious. i.e. they look like the area's which are sticking, with a good quality penetrating oil.

It's better than something like WD40, which is ok, but not as good and after freeing off the relevant parts it would be a good idea to add some Quicksilver 2-4-C which has Teflon added and is a high water resistant grease.

Trailering Switch

On the throttle control there is a button which says trailering. I have read about this but cant sort of see the point of why you need this over and above the normal trim switch ?

I have found what appears to be a manual for the engine on line which seems reasonable.

Has anyone got a manual for the actual boat

Regards

Hi Dennis

You should have a switch and a button on your throttle lever . The switch is for your trim whilst underway, on (down) is to get you on the plane or in choppy seas, up is for trimming at speed, it has limited movement of the leg, this is a simplistic explanation.
The trailer button lifts the leg past the up ( when fully trimmed up) to allow you to trailer the boat. The leg should lift to fully up position then stop. It is limited by trim switch on the Gimbal Ring. When I get home I'll post some pics and see if I can get you a PDF manual.
