Towergate Mardon as they, at the time, were the only one at reasonable cost that would cover the leg and prop.

I use Towergate too. When I had to claim they were great, which is enough incentive for me.

OK ... Towergate did not win for me.

They came in £446 ( so more than £100 more)
The excess was £250 instead of my current £150

This was their on-line quote ... then I had a call this morning, they were adding discounts etc. ... and thought they could split the difference ... but still be at least £50 more.

Also 100% decider they would not cover me for being towed on my SkySki, either personal accident not 3rd party injury or damage ........ also exclude towing multi person inflatables.
My EIS Sail Plan Policy gives me £1m cover and includes SkySki

They also would not cover the SkySki or any of the watersports kit for loss/theft ... skis, wakeboards etc. they advised I would have to claim, on my house policy.
Current policy covers them under £1000 personal effects .... all in all Towergate seemed very poor for watersports boaters.

It does include, theft, trailer & underwater leg strike. - incl 3rd party damage - I guess in case you hit a sub :-)

Maybe just my circumstances - but their policy was a lot more expensive and a lot less cover.

So if any of you looking for good Marine cover ... you might like to try Porthcawl Insurance Services ......... they have been my broker for last 15 years - and as it seems to proves, they find me good cover at best rates.
They advertise in the back of the magazine .... web site is: http://www.porthcawl-insurance.co.uk/

So looks like my current insurer will get the renewal again.

Towergate were the same for me - WAY to expensive with too many exclusions going direct however thru CETA they had policies to match and were cheap as chips but then that is the insurance game. Theres also ways to reduce premiums by reducing the overall sums insured etc. Easy trap to fall into too think they will actually pay the market value of an item and the risk of total loss is minimal. Its all a big game

Just add a caveat to that ... if you undervalue your boat, they have a legitimate get out clause if you have to make claim.

Difficult with boats ... no Glass's used boat guide.

Just going through similar with our boat, gazgen's search for a similar boat to ours caused me to look at the market value. Looks like we are under insured so getting a valuation letter for the insurers
