I looked at an S23 at Burton waters a few months ago, an absolutely lovely boat in excellent condition, but at 30k+ too expensive for me so I have to stick with my fleet of Carrera's. I will buy the magazine though, just out of interest. Thanks for posting. Geoff.

Hi Geoff,

It's an online magazine with free subscription, no need to buy it.

Here's a link, just register and away you go! http://www.motorboatowner.co.uk/

Thanks Sprocker, I was just about to do the same. :D

Yes we have looked at several S23 and 25's. They are surprisingly roomy for their size and there are a lot for sale, even in this market, so you can be choosey. Prices vary dramatically and some younger boats can be cheaper than an older one. Later S25's can come with a D3 190 engine, indeed having tried both, there didn't seem to be a lot in it and I felt the handling in a chop wasn't as good as I'd expected.
I have to say though the S24's which are slightly older seem to have a better cockpit layout.

I had a look at a S23 when buying but I have to be honest. Yes for size they are very roomy but you just cant get away from small boat roll etc. i.e. when moving about the boat lists significantly and is even more off puting when cruising. You dont want that in a cruiser. Plus it porpoised like a dancing dervish and was very trim sensitive. As a package I did not rate it at all. I think an older S28 makes a far better package for buck. Each to his own though

Thanks Sprocker and Ianfs. I knew that it was not one of the more popular magazines as I have never seen that title before. I did google to find out where I could buy it, but only found the usual ones for sale and did not realize that it was online only (I have lead a very sheltered life!!!). I will try to register now. Thanks again. Geoff.

Now registered, downloaded and read all of the magazine. I thought that the S23/25 atricle was a good well written review. I understand the comments made by BruceK, but would like to remind him that some people wish be able to trail their boats and these boats fit into this category. Geoff.

Of course. Each to his own and there is no denying the popularity of the boat but I believe that has more to do with it being a great entry level cruiser in it's price bracket and not necessarily because its a great boat. There are a few trailerable planing cruiser boats that could fit this bill (and we are right on the weight limit here) that aren't quite so tippy though. Seriously, have you been on one, if so you will know exactly what I mean. The article says the boat is buoyant. All boats are buoyant, to point this out is just the polite way of saying beware it's tippy.

Now this looks like a nice boat, great lines and nice interior and 500hp.. Shame about it being petrol though. :?

On the other hand, a US boat with a KAD32, wow, no wonder this sold. Seems to be a mix up with the engine HP, I wonder who proof read the add.

Indeed, I am not the biggest fan of American boats despite never having owned anything but an American boat (go figure) but in the trailerable planing category they are king.
One shouldn't overlook the likes of MF, BA or some of the Scandinavian offerings Bella, Yarmin, Flipper etc. Everyone wants British if they're English and that leaves them playing with older stuff or dross.
