Help! What Boat is this??

by Richthecat » 19 May 2017, 07:15

High as you can see I am a newbie to this site. I have a small powerboat which I bought last year and she is my dream everything about her is great but I have no idea what make and model she is and I am worried that when something breaks which it will I will not be able to track down the parts. What I know I think she is originally a British boat but was used in Italy on the lakes in 2010 or so as I have the certificate of registration for the engine and it is Italian. I have looked everywhere for a hin number or some other markings and cannot find them. If anyone could help me out I would be very grateful. P.S ignore the numbers on the side they are Polish identification numbers I put on.

The style of the nose, windscreen and the cleats: my money would be on Picton. But I'm not sure which model. If you search for Picton Delta, it looks very similar, except the Delta is smaller than yours I think.

Anyway, try this:

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=picto ... ts&imgrc=_

If it is, you won't get spares. But you wouldn't anyway for a lot of classic boats. But the engine will have spares available and there's not much else to break :)

Apart from the Hull, virtually every boat manufacturer buys in the fittings/parts from 3rd party suppliers, therefore hunting around the parts suppliers (such as ASAP - https://www.asap-supplies.com/ - Keypart -https://www.keypart.com/ ) is your best bet.

Its what the dealers and manufacturers do anyway, they search out the 3rd party part, add their margin and sell it to you.

My vote is Picton.

As nick says very little to break on the actual boat and you have a very nice Honda engine there so spares for that should be available should you need them. Have fun on her

I had a Picton Delta 14 and it was one of the most fun boats I had. VERY fast and nice handling. After that I got another British classic, a Waverider (ex Shakespeare), but then I went all American and got an American lake boat :)

Used to go visit Huw & Dave Picton quite often ..... had several Pictons .... they were good hulls .... but let down by poor internals - plywood floor & seat supports - often poor condition on 2nd hand boats.
Picton closed in 2010

The moulds for the Picton range were on sale for a long time ....
Pictons as a sports boat manufacturer are no more.

Much like most of the UK recreational power craft

Simms Super Vee (loved my Simms)
Shakespeare
Broom
Fletcher (if you don't consider multiple buy outs)
Ring (don't see them anymore, are they still going ?)
Phantom (think they have been resurrected after long break)
SunSport (bulit by Picton)

In the 70s and early 80's my local bay was full of Broom Aquarius .. and the like .... but not seen any for years./

Just took a look on the 'for sale sites' everything seems years old .......... are they still going and producing sports boats in 14 -21' size ?

Maybe my assumption was wrong - and it is just nobody is buying them.

No you are right, it seems they have stopped making small sportsboats/runabouts. We had a couple of Broom's in the family at one time, a runabout/day boat with a 15hp on the back and a river cruiser.

They seem to have diversified into the larger more expensive craft, but are still alive. :)
