Traitor sort of

by Bigplumbs » 23 Apr 2017, 07:47

I just helped a friend bring his (new to him) 34 foot Najad 321 sailing yacht back from Hamble point Marina to Levington Marina on the Orwell. Passage of about 200 miles over 3 days.

We did Hamble Point to Eastbourne - 80 miles - 11 hrs
Then Eastbourne to Ramsgate - 70 miles - 12 hrs (poor tides)
Then Ramsgate to Levington - 45 miles - 7 hrs

Not much out there

It was fun and I learned how the other half live in Hamble point and we had lovely weather and calm conditions. Saw Dolphins and got 'accosted' by the Border Force boat Eagle. The Navionics on my tablet worked very well.

I still prefer motor boats though and the ability to have some speed. On the Ramsgate to Levington Passage for example because the sea was very calm I could have done it comfortably in about 2 - 2.5 hrs at cruise speed
