Anvil Point to St Albans Head. The photo's don't show it, but this part was the roughest of the weekend.

And finally approaching Portland Harbour.

And the obligatory wake shot with Portland Bill away in the background

And finally approaching Torquay Harbour and Home.

Covers fully off in April...

Looks like you had a great trip back, in some fine weather - let's hope we get some more like that in the season ahead :D

Are you keeping the name ore do you have anything else in mind? If you are thinking of changing it, be aware that the Part I Register only accept unique names, so it will have to be something not yet listed on the Register. If you call them and get someone helpful, they will sometimes let you know if your choice is already on the list - otherwise, you just have to submit the form with half a dozen options and hope for the best... I think that there is an £80 transfer fee to re-register the boat in your name too

Are you sure? I reregistered my boat for free AFAIR and there are a few boats out there called Amanzi.

Hi Mark, yes covers off all the way yesterday. I have to admit it got a little chilly when stood up at 22 knots, but once sat down behind the screen it was fine.

We will keep the name, far too much trouble to change it, and we both like it anyway. The only thing we had thought about was to change Poole to Torquay as the home port, but only if that does not alter the Part 1 registration.

She performed faultlessly by the way, and surprised me with how well she handled the rough stuff.

Great photos, the wavelength passing the Needles was fairly long but as usual in a photo, seas are never as harsh as they really are, was is fairly comfortable?

It was the worst I have ever been in one of my own boats, but then I've never had a boat as large as Gin Trap before, or attempted a trip like this before.

I matched our speed to the conditions and it felt perfectly comfortable. I know I've said this before but I was amazed at how well she handled the conditions

BruceK,
The usual SSR registration is far less onerous and they are not at all bothered about any duplication of names. However, for the full Part 1 Registration, any change is rather more costly and the name has to be unique.

Sprocker,
The boat was originally registered in Poole, so I never needed to change that part. However, I don't see why there would be a problem with changing your home port to Torquay. There will be a fee, though, and you would need to return the current certificate with your application. Incidentally, have you done this already to change the registration into your own name? If not, you might be able to change both entries for one fee :D

Fair enough. I probably cocked up somehow. I just reregistered on the database and with the coastguard. Nobody seems to mind so I'll leave it at that
