Boat info

by AdrianTurner » 03 Apr 2017, 11:24

Total newbie to both this forum and boating.
Only previous experience is lots of fun last summer with a 2.7M SIB armed with a 4hp 2 smoke.
I have just purchased a Fletcher Arrowflash GTO15 pushed by a Mercury 90hp. Just tidying up a few bits of trim, checking out motor, etc, in readiness for our glorious??? summer ahead.

The plate on the dash and the reverse mould stamp on the transom quote ‘Type 147 24040 90’ can anyone point me in the direction of finding the info related to each part of this number? I’ve tried various searches but so far have not found anything.

Thanks in advance,
Adrian.

Hi Adrian and welcome to the forum!

Good choice with a Fletcher, I've had three and still got two of them... :D

The 147 at the start of the serial is the model designation - i.e. ArrowFlash 147. The next bit is the hull serial number and the last two digits the year (1990).

She should go will with a 90 - I have a 90 Mercury on our 1992 ArrowSport.

What are will you be boating in? There's bound to be some fellow forum members nearby who can add some local knowledge for you!

Enjoy the Fletcher - and the summer! 8-)

Robin

Thank you Robin for your comprehensive answer.

Living in Swansea, Gower will be my main area for boating. Initially launching at Oxwich bay due to it being so sheltered. As and when my level of competence allows, I would like to go further afield and explore parts of Pembrokeshire along with Dorset, Devon and Cornwall. I’ll be using the bridge to get to the last three though  .

Hi Adrian

One of our members, Argonaut hails from your area, he has been with boats forever and has so much knowledge and will also help with water sports, he will definitely be able to help with any information about boating in the Gower.

Hi Adrian .... dropped you a PM.

I boat every w/end from end April onwards ...launch at Knab Rock. (Usually). or Oxwich.

If I can help in any way, not sure how used you are to boats or the area ... happy to help if needed - but you may be fully experienced ... so don't want to assume.

Reach out any time.

Thanks, I've replied to your PM.

Only previous experience is with a SIB last year, so I may be reaching out more than you have bargained for.

Adrian

Hello and welcome. You have certainly chosen right with a Fletcher. I have five of them (If you wonder why I have 5 it is because I thought 6 would be excessive :)).

We all like pictures so some pics of your set up would be appreciated. Lots of good info on this forum about fletchers and boating in general. Enjoy your new purchase and the summer ahead.

If you not had a sportsboat .. set up of the boat can bake a big difference.
Height of engine ( re cavitation plate), trim, prop pitch and type.
Matching WOT

As mentioned I'm local, happy to meet up on or out of the water.

I thought first off this was a typo and you meant a RIB but guess you mean something else .... is it a ... standup inflatable board ?
