We spent a fun day yesterday out in, probably an F5, on a pretty choppy Solent having a whale of a time.

I think I've become a bit over cautious in terms of the weather that we go out in. In reality we were perfectly OK out there, just limited to Southampton Water and the Hamble. Nothing to stop us going out though.

OK I wouldn't go round the Island, I might have got to Cowes but at the end of the day a bimble up the Hamble was perfectly acceptable. Not impressed with the price of a pint at the Jolly Sailor though

Seriously thinking about taking the boat off the market for now. The boss feels quite strongly that joka-tu is the boat that we want and who am I to argue

So who's organising the next round the Island trip, whoever it is please plan some better weather this time

I think a lot of the time you just have to go out and see what its like, you can always just sit in the marina with the camper covers up. If you sold Joker-Tu then you wouldn't get another one in the same condition from what I see on the market.

You are probably right, and going bigger probably means less fun for the comfort.

When we hit 50mph off Yarmouth the other evening with the sun setting I couldn't think of another boat I'd rather be on. I love our Regal and have no plans to go bigger, unless we win the lottery then the regal would be gone and I would be ordering a Windy Zonda and a Princess

I'm still hoping for some evening runs out this year, I love it when the wind drops off and it is just getting dark. A totally different boating experience.

Not totally discounting an upgrade sometime if the right boat came along but I don't think I want to sell and be boatless while I'm looking. In reality I think we'll still be day boating for the time being so cabins, fridges, microwaves etc aren't really needed.

However......putting two daughters through Uni and coming out the other side still solvent, then facing the possibility of 2 weddings, yes guys, not one but two...... If it were me (oh sorry, it was me recently ) I would recommend staying with the delightful Monterey for a while.

Engined with twin Mercury 8.2 litre 430hp petrol V8's she runs at speeds over 65mph. At cruising speeds she is remarkably economical with these modern lean burn engines.

Economical Compared with a Jumbo Jet perhaps.

If only it was tax included. Makes all the difference.
