We're normally about 50m off the swim area buoys, so yeah, you've got about 2m chart datum, plus around about 4m ish HWS. Normally, we have out about 35m scope ( so close to 6 than 8). We use a 25m drag alarm, and this lets us know when we swing reliably, without false alarms due to movement + GPS error.

With this set up, all being well, if we do start to severely slip, we'll get a bit of notice before the anchor's off the shelf and slowly drifting though the main channel! Don't think I'd fancy the 1/3 mile swing radius otherwise :P I don't even think you'd fit that much rope in the anchor locker!

If you are on the shelf then you could be approx. 128m of rope. :shock: The swing is about 1/3 of a km

I did exaggerate ever so slightly though! :mrgreen:
