Boat covers, found this....

by Ianfs » 23 May 2015, 20:23

We fancied a bit of lunch somewhere today and I was looking for a chandlery in Brighton, so decided to take a trip in that direction. I came across this Site on the Marina website............

Nicky's Chandlery

I clicked on the website and then found this......................read on.

Nicky's Canvas Works

Now my front bow cover which I might add "was" still in very good condition after many many years, has been eaten by nasty pesky rodents, lots of little holes all over. She said bring it down and she'll have a look and make repairs. So I'm expecting to spend a few bob only when SWMBO pipes up, "How much would it be for a new cover"? £120......done SWMBO says.....hmmm!!! Not bringing her again. However you have to admit, a hand made canvas bow cover fitted to the boat at that price, bargain, I think, however I really have no idea, but it sounds good. They are principally sail makers and have been for about 15yrs, previously leasing the loft above a chandlers and have bought them out.

Anyway, I know they initially make sails and repair them they also make an awful lot of other repairs as well as deal in second hand buying and selling of other boat stuff. I thought it would be good to let you know about them. :)

That name rang a bell and made me go and look at my winter cover and that is too a Nicky's cover, the boat was brought from down that way so is probably the same company.
I have the receipt for the cover somewhere and from memory, it was about £950, made to measure all over winter cover, very good quality, very quick and easy to fit, I would certainly recommend.
Can dig the receipt out to confirm if anyone is interested?
