Hi All,

Couldn't resist going out to see the ship in Stokes Bay and to try out my new ION action camera.

Lovely weather, flat (ish) for a change so no Solent chop to contend with.

Didn't see any fish either :)

Burly policemen enforcing the 150 meter exclusion zone - big sub machine guns too!

Will work on my audio editing as time goes on...

Were any forum members out there today? I waved to a lot of powerboats so if if was you then Hi!

http://youtu.be/dxViZQplgxA - still uploading - ready in about 30 mins, 1.7gb - there must be a better way??

Are you uploading raw video or did you pre-process it to Youtube standards first?

pre-processing it reduces the file size for uploading and reduces the youtube processing time.

Hi Yes,

I exported from movie maker in HD but still huge file size.

I may lower resolution and see if that helps....

Nice video. I Liked it when you hit the throttle when the appropriate music came on. Did they just warn you about the 150 meters or did you get too close as you seemed to be close to the ship?.

Hi xboat,

I looked up the "notice to mariners" for Portsmouth so knew about the 150 metre rule before we got there.

http://www.royalnavy.mod.uk/qhm/portsmo ... march-2015

It's just a matter of interpretation as to how far 150 meters actually is!!

We must have been closing at 50+ knots - you can see the rib turning to "push me out" but not coming that close in case I didn't move :)

That said, you have to respect the limit or BIG trouble...

Hi Nick,

Did a little edit to your post to embed the video.

Nice one. Aparently it's still to cold for my better half to go out on the boat.

Hi Colin,

Thanks for embedding the vid - is that something I can do?

What you didn't see is the 5 layers of clothing that my wife was wearing, and gloves, and with the backup of a sleeping bag and blanket if she got cold.

Had a nice snack and drink at the Rising Sun on the way back which is necessary to keep everyone happy!

Click on the youtube button just above the box that you are typing into when you create the post and paste the youtube code in

http://youtu.be/dxViZQplgxA (the red bit)

Or key in the code yourself like the following

(youtube)dxViZQplgxA(/youtube) but replacing the round brackets with square ones
