Southampton, landof sunshine and shoewrs

by ColinR » 30 Apr 2016, 17:31

Well I got out today to wave the boss off on her mini cruise, decided not to wait until the Britannia actually sailed as it suddenly got very dark, the wind was picking up and it looked like it was going to be very wet. I just got back in time!

Not the prettiest of cruise liners

We thought the wind forecast would stop us going coastal today, saw F6 on Bramblebank whilst eating ice cream on the Thames, however didn’t look too bad for you

It got worse as the afternoon went on. By the time I came in about 1700 it was probably a good 5 and getting worse with quite a lot of white horses. I was chatting to a rib owner who had tried to get to Cowes. They turned back as it was too choppy.

In one sense that's reassuring, when we saw the clear sky's first thing we thought we had made a bad call

I'll confess if it were not for the ladies going off on their cruise I would not have gone out. It was borderline from a forecast point of view and quite cold. Nice to get the boat wet though.
