The season is nearly here - just six weeks to go!

Getting excited now. Our first planned trip out will be the easter long weekend. A photoshoot round Puffin Island then on up to Moelfre for lunch and overnight anchorage. An Easter egg hunt on the beach and then on to Porth Wen for another overnighter with evening BBQ on the beach. Hope it's not as cold as last year but hope the seas are as smooth.

What's your first planned outing?

In a sense we have continued boating over the winter as have had regular visits to the boat and met up with boating friends. In fact shared Sunday lunch today with two other couples and returned to the marina for some time aboard in the afternoon.

If all goes to plan the engines will be serviced end of February and the boat will be lifted ashore in mid March subject to space ashore which is in great demand.. I have the bow thruster to sort out (hopefully a failed shear pin) and outdrives to check/service.
Not sure if we will be back in for the Easter weekend but if we are in we will certainly be taking the boat out .

Easter being a bit early certainly signals the start of the season this year.
No specific destinations planned for April but expect we will remain on the non tidal river. The early May bank holiday weekend should see a slightly more adventurous tidal trip.

Well she is serviced and ready to go.

"Tradition" has it that we will go to Poole before the speed limit is re-instated on 1st April. However we have a change of manifolds pencilled in over the coming weeks and I may want to put it in the Thames first to check for leaks etc.

Already working on a few things for this years boating. Would be nice to be out as well in April however. Will entirely depend on my free time and weather!

I plan to put her back in Around end of March time but will see what the weather is offering. Still a list of jobs as long as my arm though..
As for trips, this year I want to do Beaulieu, a night up the hamble somewhere and bembridge. Possibly Chichester at some point too.
Let's all start hoping for a little less wind this year.

Ours has stayed in the water all winter, although we haven't used her as much as we hoped due to the crazy winds on the south coast......

We usually de-winterise mid to late March. Spend a weekend scrubbing the mould off and then start praying for good weather.

thats a sensible time to wake up, What is it with these people who want to wake up early and get cold & wet, I think I'll opt for a warmer change of climate then get going

March may be still a bit cold, but the days and the water up here is usually millpond smooth and with clear skies makes up for the extra jacket required.
