Sea-Dek

by argonaut » 29 Jan 2021, 19:06

If any of you want comfort underfoot but don’t like carpets that just act like a sponge for water.
One of the most common solutions is Sea-Dek.

On my FourWinns I elected to have Sea-Dek fitted through all of deck areas and swim platform.

It is a great product ... non slip, warm on cold mornings, and after a day at sea just hose it down.

I have been dealing with one of their distributors in the UK ..... ProCast Group.

Have found them very professional, responsive and extremely helpful.
It’s good when you come across such a company ... If you ever need Sea-Dek they are worth considering.

Is it like that spongy material?
If so, how do you think it will wear. As in, do you think it could scuff up on the edges, or stain easily from spills ec.
I was looking at some Wasser dek installed on some boats at my drystack, which I think is similar ?

I fitted it to my last boat and it was still in very good condition when I sold it after 5 years.
It is similar to a hard capping mat, some give underfoot - so comfortable, but much harder than a sponge.

It's 100% waterproof, and absorbs no water ... on previous boats carpet would take days to dry out, no such issue with Sea-Dek.

Genuine Sea-Dek is very good ...... they can 'rout' any patter, design or logo into it. Many people use it as simulated teak.
Be warned, there are copies ..... and to be honest, the swim platform on my boat was done in the factory with an alternative ..... and it has already torn at edges, and has 'cuts' in it, presumably off wakeboard fins ...... genuine sea-dek is far better performing.
