Collection of a boat

by Ianfs » 03 Jun 2020, 09:12

Warranty situation excellent.

I've just read the rules for Wales and it seems that you are restricted to your local area, they are estimating to be about 5miles. Consequently meeting half way would be an issue. There is another review on the 18th so they may decide to open travel up to anywhere in which case you could save a bit of cash and drive down to collect it.

We saw a lot of 'out or area' (English mainly) arrive here on weekend, police issued lost of fines.
On guy had a family of 6 .... was on news Police fined him ... £30 he said that's less than a parking ticket at home, he was happy !

The rules at present say you can go boating form a moored boat, as long as the journey to the mooring is no more than 5 miles.
You can boat only with members of your family who live in same house.

I logged a Q over collection of the boat, if I was collecting to work on it, not use it, this 'could' be seen as acceptable as long as social distancing maintained, RYA lead for Wales is following up on this.

The rate of expansion of use ..... I think will see free for all in 2 weeks. (which is wrong)

It is no wonder we are still seeing deaths and new cases from this awful virus, if plonkers like this guy can't think straight.

Good idea about the Question and if its ok problem solved. :)

This is interesting to read. I am looking at a new car at the moment and have seen one that possibly fits the bill and it is in Cardiff. Until I read your post I had no idea that movement was still restricted in Wales.
Does this mean that travelling to look at it will result in a fine?
Also, I really don’t see the difference between picking the boat up to take it home or picking it up ‘to work on it’ or am I missing something there? Is that just to sop towed boats being towed to be used?

The restriction are that travel in wales is to be for medical, food shopping or work.
On Monday this increased to travel to a location to take exercise, travel limited to 5 miles.
Boat use is restricted to moored boats, with moorings no more than 5 miles from your house. ***

Therefore collecting a boat for work is considered acceptable, but use of a boat is not.

*** On the weekend (before new relaxation) there were loads of people using local slipways to launch ..... even though they are all officially classed as closed.
