Mercury 115 2 stroke issue

by Bigplumbs » 05 Feb 2015, 18:01

Hello all

Now I hope one of you clever chaps can help me

Last season my Mercury 115 hp 2 stroke was working well but occasionally in the early part of an outing at flat out it would hiccup and faulter a few times. After a short while it was fine and it generally did not do it again that outing.

On the last run out however at full power the engine momentarily died, all the dials went to full deflection and then returned to zero again. The engine then fired back to full power and was fine for the rest of the outing.

The radio and all other electrical items shut off during the short time (seconds) of the problem.

Other than a poor battery connection any of you clever chaps got any ideas what the problem might be

Regards

Dennis

ALthough it never affected the engine, when our dials flicked to full on it was an earthing problem rather than a supply problem

With a large 2 stroke outboard if you start the engine then disconnect the battery does it keep running ?
