The two sports cruisers that left wells today had been to the Deben and enjoyed it. They are both diesel powered but didn't refuel here in Wells.
I presume your Fletcher has a petrol engine . I doubt it would have the range . There is no petrol station in Wells.

Just plotted a route on navionics Wells is about 90 nm from the Deben. I have 100 ltrs and can easily carry 60 lts in cans so I could do it one way but not there and back. Taxi from wells to petrol stn with the cans would do it but expensive. No real places to duck into if the weather kicks up either so too far for me.

What I will do one time is Deben to lowerstoft and onto the broads

Dennis

theres a big slipway in Wells if thats an option for you?

A few catch up photo's from our holiday - sadly back to work today.
We had a good return crossing over the Wash and along the Humber at 20 to 22 knots . The last few days relaxing on the River Trent and steadily making our way home to Farndon.

I have realised I missed a few pictures from earlier in the holiday

Waiting for the tide at Gainsborough

We stopped at Hull one night on the way out and also on the way back

and a two night stop at Grimsby which was necessary to allow refuelling.

An early morning - departure from Grimsby 05:30 dictated by the tide time. But I arranged the week of our holiday to make this work . I  love going out to sea at dawn.

and on the way back a stop at Dunham on Trent

Amazing, fantastic shots Martyn...

Was there any further damage to your friends boat?

Brilliant pictures, looks like a fantastic couple of weeks! It also appears by the shots that the weather behaved too, very envious!!
Boat looks lovely too!
And I absolutely agree, there is nothing better than being at sea on a flat calm day for the sun rise, it's an amazing scene! 8-)

The sea for the main crossing from Grimsby to Wells wasn't flat calm but ''slight'' with a reasonably long swell so there was only a little bouncing about . The main parts of the sea crossing both ways being quite comfortable. The return leg was much the same and once back on the Humber the water was quite calm and the run into Hull was a pleasant cruise .
The weather was a bit mixed but on the whole can't complain. Generally warm and never cold. Most days saw some sun and when it did rain it didn't interfere with activities. One exception was the run outbound from Hull to Grimsby when it rained heavily and we got a good soaking , although it was the right decision as the sea state was excellent.

My friends boat was not damaged by the bicycle - only damage will be to his wallet for the lift out. The bicycle had to be cut to remove it .
