Launch Day

by Bigplumbs » 24 Apr 2016, 17:27

Well yesterday I went out in the Bowrider to check the mooring etc and ended up in a huge hail storm. Today I launched the Fletcher 19 GTS to put her on her mooring and just after launch there was ........................................... You guessed it a massive hail storm.

It was quite windy about 20 mph but we managed to get her launched and had a blast up the river before putting her on the mooring. That was fun in the wind and rain but she is there now and hopefully all ok as I sit now at home. I was worried that the minute I put her in reverse to pull her of the trailer she would stall and I would be left floating with the tide up the river Deben. The engine however performed very well indeed and no real problems. My friend John (A raggie) performed the taxi service from the mooring to the shore in his little boat.

Here are a few pics

Looks great Dennis, bet you're like a dog with two tails and a big grin.

The boat tows very well indeed and the Landy tows her as if there is nothing on the back. The whole rig is quite long so you have to keep checking in your mirrors. I also had one breaklight out but at the time so that was on my mind. The trip from my mums (where she was stored) in only about 30 miles so not too far

Had trouble getting to sleep last night worrying about her on the mooring. Had to have a look today and there she was sitting quietly. Mind you I think launching her has brought out the bad weather

I showed my wife the pic below and she said oh look those other boats are it little friends................................. What can you say

I know what you mean, I worry for the first night when she is launched... What if I'd forgotten this or that. Not til I get back down the next day and realise all is actually fine that I relax a little.
Perfectly natural I hope... :?

I think it is natural. I have actually put 2 mooring lines on her. The main line to the mooring cleat and another line on the bow where the trailer hook would attach. The plan is when I come alongside in the tender I unclip the line on the bow and use that to moor the tender. Once on board her indoors shimmies to the bow and casts off. After I have the engine nice and warm that is. Pity the weekend looks pants or we would be out in her
