I agree with Ian and I suspect this has crossed your mind as well. Although they cover parts and labour, no doubt that will be in case something breaks or fails, so the burning question would be how reliable is it likely to be?
Warranties and insurances play the same old game with our minds. For example, if a Gimbal bearing failed it could destroy the stern drive, gimbal housing and transom shield as well as some of the engine, in which case £2100 is not a great deal of money. I suspect the reason it is so expensive is because the "POT" from lack of uptake is small. There are millions of cars on the road with extended warranties at only a few hundred pounds, but probably only a handful of boats with a Volvo extended warranty.
For me the chances of a brand new engine that's serviced every year and which has done 2 seasons without issue is going to go on forever.
