SWSB Rally

by Bigplumbs » 13 Apr 2017, 06:17

Now that we are getting close I was wondering who was going on the Rally at the end of May and what boat you are bringing

I will be there with her indoors and am bringing my Fletcher 17 foot Bow Rider with merc 115 two stroke. Not bringing my mum or little dog this year

Lets all hope for good weather

Hi Dennis,

There Sunday/Monday (possibly Saturday), most likely with the Fletcher 150GTO (Merc 90 two stroke).

Cheers,

I'll be there with the little lady in the Karnic 2260. Hopefully we'll have a shake down on a river first but this wil be the first long tow of the year for sure. thats after 3 new tyres and a brake /bearing inspection. :(

Dennis, has no one ever told you it's always sunny in Devon? Nice and sunny here in Torquay this morning, full covers off run today if this easterly swell calms a little. Hope the weather is kind for the May weekend for you all. I was going to pop across the bay and introduce myself at some point over the weekend, but unfortunately my brother in law decided to be 60 and have a party, so we won't be on the boat that weekend.

Any weather will be warming than what is currently covering Kings Lynn area. We had the boat back in the water on Saturday to prepare for the trip - a local river shake down to test the new gear shift cable and leg refurb (clean & repaint). Next is the trailer - according to the last owner it sat in a yard for 8 years with the boat loaded only during winter & it never saw water until we dunked it last year - so today I begin to strip down the trailer wheels to be sure - 4 new tyres /brake shoes/ cables and bearing will be quite a shock if they do

Assuming all is good we'll arrive in Torquay Thursday Morning - another over night stop in Asda Cribbs Causeway, Bristol

Took the Fletcher 17 bowrider out for its first shakedown prior to the Rally yesterday. She seemed to go ok

I beat you on arrival but not on distance - just :-) Were setting off 7pm Wednesday night from Wisbeach, Cambs - hoping to make Bristol Cribbs Causeway for sleepy time, may stick around for a cheap Asda breakfast but definitely cheap fuel then into Torquay about 10.30 - 11am - We'll launch there as parking is easier for the 4 wheel trailer on the harbour arm and 4x4 free in the near by streets. We'll motor over to Brixham if the wind is favourable for Friday evening on the town quay, if not we'll see you there Sat AM.

if you PM ur number I'll try to text you if theres any problems in the bay before you arrive and meet up when you arrive etc. - Ian. FYI - cheapest fuel in the area came up as Tesco extra at Junc 30 on the M5 Exeter, if not at Cribbs Bristol Asda if you come that way. Both with easy boat access, on a trailer obviously ;-)
