I'd rather replace every year at a few pounds than have a rebuild due to a severe overheat following a failure.
Same does for oil changes / oil filters etc.

Oil nearly 100. 800 per engine service and the drives this year came to 6.6k because the props were free wheeling in the current the shaft end seals ate through both inner and outer shafts. Damn things must have spun 100 000 nm based on my experience on restoring classics and seeing similar damage on crank shaft end seals. My winter lift out came to 15k all up. Im still smarting.

I'm guessing that must be for a rebuild kit Dennis?
Quicksilver High Performance Gear Oil £ 35.38
Quicksilver Impeller £18.25
Quicksilver Impeller Housing Gasket £5.53
Total £59.16
These prices are from general chandlers, shop around and they are much cheaper. I have to agree though, when you remove the old one they tend to always be in great condition and it seems an awful waste to throw a perfectly good part away. HOWEVER.........................
Engine Rebuild £££££££££££?????
No contest at about £60 DIY!
