Oxwich – Gower, West of Swansea, S.Wales
Large beach & slipway & car park.

At West end of Swansea Bay, there is Mumbles light house, from that point on is the magnificent Gower Peninsula, Britain’s first area of designated Natural beauty.

One of the popular boat launch sites – is Oxwich Bay.

Travel about 30 min out of Swansea on the A4118, and after the village of Parkmill, Penmaen & Nicholstan ... you find the impressive entrance gates to Penrice estate, turn sharp left here and you make the long downhill run into Oxwich village. As you drive in the final mile you pass an expanse of sand dunes and marshland by Oxwich Bay, and you come to the privately owned entrance to the beach, which is a huge car park.
The park & Launch fee is £10.50 .... but they will also try to get you to join boat club for £25 (you can avoid this for 1st time visit)

If you are towing a boat you are allowed to the West end front row ...
The village is full of B&B’s and it is also very popular for people to camp overnight – many boaters do this and have a full weekend here.

There is also a Hotel and accommodation can be had there.

At the far end (West end) of the car park is the large slipway, allows launch & recovery on full tide, when the tide is out the sand is flat and firm – driving over this and down to the water is very easy.
Though if tide is full out – then the water is shallow for a long distance – and many cars have become stuck ... embarrassing when tide turns.

There is sometimes a tractor launch facility .. (at cost) should you not trust your 4x4 capability.

There are no fuel facilities at the bay, just a cafe, shop & toilet block.

The bay itself is huge and great for boating .......... or you can head East ... towards Three Cliffs, Langland and then Mumbles ... or West towards, Port Eynon, then Worms Head & Rhossili (One of top 10 bays in the world !)
This really is a prime boating location.
