Mumbles – Swansea, S.Wales
Public slipway – launch, trailer park & car park.
Lat Long Lat Long 51° 32’16.32” N 3° 59’07.75” W
Postcode SA3 4EN

At the West end of Swansea bay is the picturesque village on Mumbles.
Simply follow the A483 off M4 J43, until it becomes the A4067 … keep the water on your left and stay on this coast road right round the bay to Mumbles.

There are 3 slipways ..
Marked on map as A, B, C

A
known as ‘Village Lane’, is a side street opposite the Antelope pub, is only really used by Mumbles waterskiclub ..and that club is almost defunct, so rarely used. The only parking is on-street and very difficult on summer days. It has limited access either side of high tide, and there is a large submerged water pipe near the slip.

B. Is Knab Rock - the main boat launch slip … accessible +/- 2.5 Hr either side of most tides, and you could put a 4x4 off the end of the slip onto sand outside these times – but there is a sand bar just in front of slip that makes that less popular.
Plenty of tie-off rings, but due to the place being busy – it is expected you will – launch and get boat away from ramp as soon as possible.
There are changing facilities & toilets but no showers. Parking for car & dedicated trailer bays.
There were extensive parking facilities but teh council sdold them off and now there is Verdi’s coffee shop & cafe taking up a lot of the area.
Normal approach is you drive in form main road – car aprk is on right, but you tuen left ... and keep to either side of ‘box junction’ hatchings, , prepare your boat and only once ready reverse down the ramp … car does not have to leave concrete ramp to launch. It can very busy on summer days as it’s popular place with MotorBike clubs and the coffee shop attracts a lot of business.
The trailer park is to the right of the ramp ... the you put your car in the public car park. (can be very busy) it's a pat & display, there is a daily launch & park fee.

If you are launching more than once you need to register boat … it’s cheap but you must present valid insurance, and they provide a windscreen reg sticker.
No Jestskis are allowed to launch at this slip.

C. the other end of the car park is a long narrow ramp that gives even longer periods of use either side of high tide … but it does get shallow, and you need to be familiar with reversing your rig, its down a long slipway with a drop either side, and a drop off at the end of the ramp… This slip has to be used if the main slip is in use for sailing competition etc.
Jetskis can launch at this slipway, but they have to be registered.

There are no fuel facilities at this location .... on the drive to Mumbles you do pass a Shell garage on right (opposite golf course) and then a Murco garage on left about 600m further on.

Swansea bay is large open & unrestricted for boating, it is in the mian hazrd free, with sand bottom, or you can turn right go round the lighthouse and then you have all the bays of Gower .. Langland, Oxwich, are particularly good for boating.
You can also go down to what is officially one of the top 10 beaches in the world – Worms Head & Rhossili.
