Henley regatta and festival

by mlines » 10 Jul 2015, 19:46

So we have been a bit quiet recently because......we have been boating. Not quite the busiest boating week for us this year as we are spending a week in Yarmouth (Isle of Wight) in a weeks time. So its now off to the coast!

The Regatta and Festival give us the chance for some "different" boating with socialising and rafting up, something you tend to see in American pictures. We now effectively have a "pair" of boats with the Monterey belonging to Hayley's boyfriend. We saw Jesse J on Wednesday, Lionel Ritchie last night and possibly The Gypsy Kings tomorrow night.

This is a mix of pictures from various cameras of various quality.

Fenders out, absolutely! The low standard of helming at Henley has to be seen to be believed

Excellent video once again from the master.

I have to disagree with the boring farts on the out dated YBW Forum where you posted it as well, superb music, it hit the spot.

Thanks, hopefully putting a festival video together as well but that has a little less source material as one of the cameras ran flat immediately (I forgot to charge it!)

For peoples interest I have two cameras fixed to the wakeboard tower, one forward and one rearward facing. This makes a lovely stable platform for them, removing any shake etc. I then have a couple of free floating cameras that I use on a standard monopod for the other shots. Why so many cameras? Well good HD cameras are becoming cheap, I have Kodak playsports which are sub-£30 on Ebay, you only have to add a new battery to them and I also have GoPros which are sub £70 for the standard basic version.\

The GoPros are left on the tower and can run for a long time on a charge.

Great videos Martin. I really wish I had your patience/skill. It takes so long to upload to Microsofts Video Maker

Sorry to hijack the thread for a second but I couldn't agree more Mark. Ask me to rebuild a Mercruiser Stern Drive and I would have a go, I would also be able to build a fairly good up to date PC, but if you asked me about Video Editing, I'm lost! :?

But ignoring the techy stuff I can't help but ignore the ignorant YBW topics that were posted about you and your topic about rafting at the Festival.
It's always been the done thing when at the Festival that one should allow a craft to your side should you be moored mat one of the staging posted near the Leander Club during Music week.

They are scared of anything sporty that creates wash, Don't worry though we would batter them in a 0-50 race. I think rafting up is fun and gives you a chance to meet other boaters. We had a random Maxum rafted up to us for the fireworks and enjoyed a very sociable evening.
