by Ianfs » 04 Dec 2018, 13:33

Interesting, I wonder this has happened because of a possible share drop due to the accidents recently..

Yes, that's right they had two accidents and interestingly enough Red Funnel changed hands at the beginning of the year after a ten year ownership. However Wightlink have had several accidents also and some breakages which haven't reached the headlines, one of which was a serious fire in the Summer this year which had five appliances attending. Late last year one ship suffered a catastrophic failure of a main engine resulting in a fire but that was extinguished by the crew. Sometimes these things have a knock on effect.

All credit to the crew of The Wight Star though, this year they spotted some boys in trouble after their dinghy upturned at the entrance to The Lymington River . The Captain went to their aid ordering the safety boat to pick them up, it was skippered by the Coxwain and one of the rates, the boys were fine, all safe and sound.
