New purchase ...

by argonaut » 25 Sep 2015, 20:49

Decided on a couple of additions to Argo 2 .......... splashed out of a pair of Floatem Poles.

Like the concept of these telescoping poles ... be trying them out tomorrow.

I was half expecting to see a new towing vessel. :D
I looked at those a little while ago, they look very good, unfortunately they won't fit on my trailer now without quick release to fit and remove as they will put me over the max width.
I had docking arms on my last trailer though and couldn't recommend enough, made it so much easier, especially when you add a little wind or tide.
Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I have those on my trailer but a set of custom made ones. It makes recovery so much easier

Where I launch it can be a real pain on a cross wind ... during recovery, its a steep slipway ... you have to come in at quite an angle to allow for how wind will push stern over once you start dropping dower & tilting up the drive.
The boat can easily swing to 30 degree or more off ... with the risk of scratching hull on the sharp corner edge of upper trailer beam (dual beam design)

... so these float to be about 1m above the water, very sturdy so designed to physically guide boat if it starts to drift.

What I liked about this design is that they are angled .. so provide a 'vee' to aim boat at, my hull is wider at centre .. tapers in at stern , and as these are angled they will allow wider part of boat to go through easily as there is flex in the aluminium tubing.

Also has benefit I will be able to see something when reversing trailer without boat on it.

Be using this afternoon - so will see how they go
