Boat recommendation

by fshiz » 30 Aug 2022, 08:58

Hello all,

Wondered if anyone could help. I've been looking for a second hand boat for a couple of years now but still haven't found one that meets my requirements - I'm wondering if I'm looking for a boat that doesn't exist(!) so thought I'd ask on here in case someone can name the model of boat I'm looking for!

I'm looking for one I can keep on the river that has the maximum possible ratio of cockpit (more) to covered area (less) as I only need a WC and small sink in the covered part. Looking for a large enough cockpit area that 4-6 adults could comfortably sit round and eat lunch at the same level (see attached image for the sort of thing).

Outboard motor preferred, reasonable condition and around £20k.

Ideas appreciated!

Hi fshiz

What your after is something like a cuddy cabin around 20-23ft. Trouble is, most cuddy cabins are American sports boats with no keel, so on a river you're constantly trying to keep it straight.

There are lots of older style Thames cruisers for sale in your price bracket that offer good cockpit accommodation but have a larger interior than you would like. Boating is always a compromise, unless you have lots of money to spend.
