Insurance

by shibbs » 13 Jul 2019, 17:02

My renewal has just come through and to be honest, its got to the stage now that i'm fed up with the annual increase in premium for no reason so time to go somewhere else.
Can anyone make any recommendations, i'm currently with Ceta..
Just got a quote from insure4boat at about half the cost but it is so vague i don't know what is covered and what is not yet..

Thanks in advance

I've been with pawthcawl for some years now. Very friendly, helpful and they seem to move me around companies to keep costs down.

I've heard Pawthcawl are good. I'm with Gjw that don't seem to increase their quotes.

I have to say though, you never really know how good an insurance company is until you make a claim.

I've been with 'Y' Yacht Insurance for some years now. Their contracts have less hidden 'gotchas' than most.

Guys its Porthcawl (Foreigners Eh !)
As in the seaside town of Porthcawl.

I was introduced to PICS many years ago by Dave Picton (remember his boats), his place was a few miles up the road.

I always use same contact Steve Knipe ... he has got me good rates every year, changes company when needed to get you competitive rates ..... and on the occasion I had to make a claim ... managed everything, even paying repairer direct - very easy process.

just left CETA for SAGA- they came in about £20 less but far better cover. I was with CETA for 4 years or more but when I questioned set value payout or market value they lied, couldn't answer questions straight and tried a hard sell / guilt thing. never had a problem before then but I knew to trust them at arms length if you know what I mean. SAGA were very nice, changed the exclusions to match my river use and left unattended for 24hrs or more out of a marina and offered full trailer replacement and o/b tender cover and underwater damage no question for free and payout set value of £18k like for like on the other stuff. £168 PY and no % increase for paying by DD monthly either, underwritten by As AMilin? (Johnson Knox as it used to be)

cant say fairer than that .
