Engine hatch repair ?

Thanks Argonaut, that's really useful.

It sounds like ours in in similar condition. It originally stated going when someone put their weight on the sunpad whilst we were cleaning out the bilges. We had the side panels off that usually support the hatch so the sunpad moved a lot further than it should have done and wrenched one of the screws out. Its just got worse since and its soaking wet.

Its drying out nicely and I think these fastenings will do the trick.

Agree about the A4 v A2...I'm struggling to find anyone who can supply A4 without a long lead time.

If it were below waterline then A4 be more critical ..... so A2 is good for the job.

We take a bit more care to get people to 'drain off' on swim platform before coming onboard, and after use, once washed down I leave hatch open for several Hrs to make sure it all dries out.

Thing I have found with A2 grade Stainless Steel is that it is variable, for example bolts. One or two of which have been soaked in salt water have rusted, but others subjected to the same are fine. Once cleaned, scraped, scrubbed off have been fine.

As Rick says though, I think, below the waterline it is a different story and A4 are a must.
