Needs a bit of TLC though.

Fletcher Sports Cruiser with Outboard

Way underpowered unless you want it purely for the river. Why not sell the fletcher and buy a powerful cuddy so you have the best of both without having two boats?

Ah yes, but, its cheap enough to sell the engine and upgrade to a bigger one, however 90hp isn't bad for a boat weighing 850kgs. :D

Anyway, if I remember rightly, NickT's boat has a Merc 75hp and it didn't do too badly round the IOW!!

We won't set the world on fire but 22kts cruising and 27 flat out is fine for me.

I would estimate top speed with a 90hp 2 stroke at around 30 kts.

How fast do you want to go is really the question.

Horses for courses really...... :P

Seen those thank you :) it will be next year now before I'm ready to change. Need to get the garage built first to keep it in :)

nice looking boat but a little ££ for a 2001 model - DPB sold for not a lot more and it was 2005 if I recall. The Bayliners come in as the lightest of the cuddies at 1800kg on trailer, I was interested cos I could easily tow it on a Galaxy with a 2000kg limit. However it's Maxum twin brother (same size/hull mould & spec better styling & build) came in at 2100kg so needed a new 4x4 so it stayed on the forecourt despite being a bargain.

to give you an idea if it helps (from memory) Betty is a 3.0l stern drive and weighs 980kg empty off the trailer, sits on a SBS 1500 bunk (which is to big and a cheap pain in the ass to own) at another 250KG ish so the empty weight total comes in at about 1300kg as a guide. Easily pulled on a passat estate similar to a vector I assume?

Re the auto you have - beware (as I found out) that the book may say its OK to pull a weight but the auto may come in at 1/2 a ton less. one of the Hondas and the Xtrail couldn't even pull Betty in Auto (although the dealer did say ignore the book spec  )

Don't necessarily be put off by having an auto, as they can be great to tow with and are ideal for slow speed manoeuvring on and around slipways - they avoid melted clutches too!

However, as said above, check the towing capacity of your car as some autos are rated far lower than their manual gearbox equivalents and some require the fitting of a gearbox oil cooler...

Whatever you are considering buying, though, it's worth getting it properly weighed on a weighbridge, especially if you are getting close to your towing limit for either your car or your driving licence - all boats weigh far more than the manufacturer's stated 'dry weight'.

I am fine with the driving licence. I passed my test at 17 in 1980. God I sound old.

Had a look at the bayliner this afternoon and it looked good. I am very tempted

Hi Dennis,

Is it the 2001 bayliner 602 at Dartside Quay that you're interested in? Dartside Quay is just around the corner from me, I over winter my boat there and think I've seen the 602 before. Nothing obviously wrong with it following a few passing glances, it does look to be in good condition.

I agree with Ian though, it does look to be highly priced. As a comparison for you, my old 2005 Bayliner 192 (Almost the same boat as the 602) 3.0L Mercruiser with 140 hours on it and in superb condition, was up for sale at £10,500 earlier this year.
