First Trip out not a Success

by Bigplumbs » 18 Mar 2017, 13:12

Because the Sun came out and I was fooled into thinking it was Summer. I went out in my little Rib to see if my mooring was in place and to have a quick trip up the river. Well I got about 0.5 miles up the river and the engine died on me. There was no way it was going to run above Idle. So I used my single paddle to paddle with the tide to tie off on a buoy and tinker with the engine. This is not at all easy on the water.

It would run at idle and if I just put her in gear I could limp along at about 2 knots. I got back to the slip ok and pulled the boat out.

When I got her home the little 15 hp Mariner 4 stroke would not run well no matter what I did. So I took the carb off (A very easy job) and stripped it down and poked very fine electrical wire through any jet or hole I could see. Nothing observable came out so I put it back together and on the engine. Started her up and she ran perfect.

I obviously dislodged something so lets hope she is fixed
