Anyone have experience with Chris craft boats?

by Gazjen » 03 Sep 2015, 22:45

As per title really, can anyone comment on quality of build, fittings etc?

No direct experience Gaz, just what I've read in the past, that sort of thing.

As far as quality goes, I believe they are as good as any other manufacturer, if not slightly better.

I watched a documentary about a year ago and remember that Gar Wood an American racing boat driver had a connection with Chris Smith and I think won a number of trophies with a design by him.

They original built Mahogany Runabouts then OMC bought into them and went to fibreglass, with some sort of connection with Donzi and Four Winns and they even built a boat for the TV series, Miami Vice.

More history here, this may answer some of your questions................

My understanding they are at the upper end of sports boats in the US. In a kind of Hunton style. The ones I've seen at London/Southampton boat shows are very very nice, and the old ones seem to get a lot of respect.
