Boat Engines etc - Maintenance and Repair

drive water ingress

by betty boop » 20 Apr 2017, 13:11

pics of my wet Alpha 1 G2, :-(

theres no water /mayo in the gear oil which is good, but this morning she was stuck in neutral after the winter so I assumed it was a rusty shift cable.
Question is now- where did the water come from between the water intake seal on the left and the shift cable mech on the right?

Both have oil on the inside with added water. drive and exhaust bellows are ok and dry.

not overall impressed with the drive condition as it 3 years younger than Betty and in a much worse state,
