Anodes for Alpha 1

I'm looking at changing the anodes over the winter and am looking for a good quality full set for my 2005 Mercruiser 3.0l, Alpha1 Gen2.

The boat is kept afloat for 8 months of the year on saltwater.

I tend not to do 'cheap and nasty', preferring to pay for quality.

Can anyone suggest a good quality set?

I too will be looking at doing the same over the next couple of months on my gen1, but haven't started looking for the parts yet. I was going to go to keypart so will also be interested if someone knows somewhere better to get parts from.

I would suggest you get spraying penetrating oil on the ram anodes as the securing bolts corrode and stick (and then shear!). If you do it now then they may undo nicely when you come to do it.

There are many manufactures, but the top ones tend to be Quicksliver (Mercuisers own), Sierra or Technoseal. GLM I'm not sure about although they seem to be in the top suppliers in the US.

A lot of manufacturers tend to swing towards Aluminium for Sea Water rather than Zinc.

My opinion, I've tried Aluminium and am not sure it is entirely genuine for Salt i.e. the Aluminium would have to be a lower grade that that of your Sterndrive and that's debatable. Therefore I would say that as long as you use a Zinc Kit made kit and then sold by a reputable company like the ones mentioned then you should get along OK.
