Boat Engines etc - Maintenance and Repair

E10 petrol

by Doc Oakley » 06 Aug 2021, 17:43

Hi - back after a long absence...

Just been reading about E10 petrol (10% ethanol) being a possible death-knell for lawnmowers...which got me thinking about outboards. Apparently E5 will be around for a little while, but only in the guise of super-unleaded and I also read that E15 is not that far away. Having been on the end of a rather expensive repair a while back - allegedly due to ethanol in fuel - what's the answer? (if indeed it is a problem for outboards, as I believe it is). Some sort of stabiliser, perhaps?

Doc.
